Kulliyyah of Science began operations in the year 2002 and offers studies in various pure and applied branches of the natural sciences. The programmes offered are Mathematical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology.
Biomedical Science
There are five areas of concentration: Environmental Health, Clinical and Pharmaceutical Research, Tele-health, Industrial Health and Biomedical & Diagnostic Technology. This programme is IIUM's response to the calls for knowledgeable and skilled professionals in both the health and medical sectors. it aims to produce highly trained and creative biomedical scientists to fill the growing needs of society.
Biotechnology
There are three areas of concentrations: Food, Environmental and Marine Biotechnology. Under this programme, students study organisms, their systems and parts. the training received can be used in the provision of goods, services and managing environment. The training exposes students to the rapidly emerging technologies in the biosciences.
Mathematical Science
Students may opt to concentrate on one of the following six areas: Computational Mathematics, Optics, Operational Research, Statistics, Financial Mathematics and Pure Mathematics. The aim of the programme is to develop versatile graduates who are able to think critically and creatively in order to analyze situations, organize information and devise solutions to complex problems at the workplace.
Students who join the Kulliyyah of Science must complete 12 credit hours of University Required Courses and 6 credit hours of English courses offered by the Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development (CELPAD). Students are also required to undergo 3 credit hours of co-curriculum activities.
In addition to the University Required Courses, candidates must take Computer in Science and Principles & Practice of Management courses as kulliyyah requirements.
